Frequently Asked Questions
Seeking an Insider
We really want to be able to match you with an Insider and chances are, if it’s something you want, others will be looking too. Please contact us providing your name, email, phone and what you are looking for and we will use our networks to match you.
Yes, what is said and shared between you and the Insiders you select stays there. All your communication will be though our Insider Information platform.
Very occasionally in the business insiders there may be a potential conflict of interest. If this happens the insider will let you know up front so you can decide if it’s a problem. If an insider believes that any conflict of interest will result in them being guarded in their responses to you, they will let you know and we will assist you to find another insider.
Yes, we know decisions aren't always made alone.
For business - we know most of you work in a team so yes, you can add others to the meeting so you all get first hand information, the chance to ask questions and take really great notes.
For individuals, you may want another family member to participate and you can add guests to the meeting.
- Firstly, be specific in your booking request. Provide background, relevant details questions you want answered to get the most precise responses.
- Prioritise a list of questions if you aren’t sure you’ll have time to cover them all so you get answers to the most important ones first.
- If you have more than one person sharing the call, nominate a spokesperson to keep everyone on track and a notetaker so you don’t miss anything.
- Be on time and be able to focus on the call.
- Be friendly but it’s not a social call. Introduce yourself and others on the call and get down to it.
- We don’t provide recordings due to confidentiality. We encourage you to take notes during your call or have someone else on the call who can take the notes so you can focus on the engagement.
Of course we know you can, but remember… The best people are busy and the demands on their time are high. The reason they are on the insider information platform is because they like sharing their knowledge and it allows them to allocate time and be dedicated in that interaction.
You’ll get more from your insider via the platform that contacting them randomly and expecting they can make time for you.
Hopefully we can answer any question you might have that will help you on your way…
Our insiders contribute to the discussion and help you understand how to ask the right questions to make better decisions…. They don’t advise what your decision should be.
We are here for advice to get you on track, the ‘how to’, the ‘have you thought about’. We don’t deliver professional services.
Let look at a couple of examples.
Advice - If you want to know about what’s involved in clinical governance or how to improve clinical governance processes within your organisation you could share what you have in place and one of our clinical governance experts can talk to you about some strategies structures and processes that you could consider.
Services - If you want someone to create your clinical governance policy or framework, that would be services which isn’t our wheel house but the knowledge gained from an insider could help you to define exactly what you need so you can find the right person to do this and get a better outcome for your organisation and probably pay less for it because you have been able to provide a clear scope.
It’s not our purpose nor the motivation for participation of our Insiders – your success and them getting a kick out of their knowledge giving you an aha moment is. Having said that, we know our Insiders are awesome and that sometimes after a call, it might become apparent that they may be just the right person to do something for you.
Remember many of our insiders don’t sell anything or engage outside the platform - they are just in it to share their knowledge If you want to engage an insider beyond your call use the Contact us form to let us know and we will be able to let you know if they do and if so, put you in touch
When you make a booking we ask that you tell the Insider the purpose for the call in the notes section. If you want feedback on a document, say so at this time. Documents must be at least provided 2 business days prior to the call. The charge for advance review of the document is 30 minutes per 10 pages and feedback is provided within the call. So for a 10 page document and a 30 minute feedback session it would be a 1 hour charge in total. We will get in touch with you to pay for the document review. You just book the call through our booking system.
At the time of making your booking you select the desired consultation time and pay by credit card. Insider information uses the Stripe platform with AES-256 encryption to secure your payment.
We get it. Sometimes things come up.
How to reschedule will be in all the invitations and reminders we send to you.
If you reschedule any time prior to your meeting time we just roll your payment over to the new time.
If you want to cancel completely
- more than 12 hours before there is no cancellation fee and you will get a full refund
- less than 12 hours there is a cancellation fee of 50%
It happens occasionally everywhere in life – Firstly, let the insider know specifically what you are seeking information on so they can tailor it to you. If it’s on track but not what you wanted to hear – dig in, think why don’t you want to hear that and ask for other perspectives. The insiders will have opinions but they have also been selected for their ability to talk broadly about their area of expertise. The Insiders are still Insiders even if what they are saying isn’t what you want to hear. Be assured, there will be valuable information in there for you to take away. We always welcome your feedback.
Insider Information is more like those amazing connections you make at say a conference or event where you meet someone who you walk away from and go “wow… I never thought” of that or “ahh… now I get it” Or perhaps think about it as like a personal mentoring or information session. The reason those interactions are often so great is because it is unbiased but also unguarded. You don’t come away from those conversations and hold them accountable for what you learned from talking to them. What we offer is the dedicated ear and voice of the Insider and their Insider opinion on your questions. You take the knowledge and make your own decisions from there.
If you want to hold someone accountable you'd need to engage a consultants to deliver a project for you.
Having said this, if you aren’t happy we want to know and if you feel as though the insider didn’t have knowledge in an area that they claim we do offer a refund or alternative consultation. Please read our T’s and C’s.
Maybe. We love connecting with great Insiders and no one is an Insider in everything so a customer in one area can definitely be an Insider in another. If you are able to talk flexibly and easily across your field of expertise – probably indicated by being the kind of person that everyone rings when they want to know about something you know about, then we could be a perfect fit. Becoming an Insider
Firstly you do need to be an Insider.
You might have qualifications but you also need experience and be able to apply your knowledge broadly and flexibly across your area of expertise.
For business topic Insiders, you need to be a leader with senior level experience or be an expert in a specific area.
You won’t be an Insider in every area. Pick categories you are actually an expert in. Sure, your peripheral knowledge and experience will add value to the advice you give, but be specific about what your core expertise is.
Secondly, we have the expectation that you are honest, generous and unguarded in your engagement with your callers. It’s all about them. You get to feel good about helping others to succeed.
Thirdly, we talk to you directly before listing you as an Insider so we can get to know you.
We think it’s one of the great things about Insider Information – you get more control over the times you get the calls and how much time you can give.
To simplify the booking process for clients and so you can manage your time easily, we ask that you allot a minimum of 2 x sessions in your calendar each week. If you don’t get a call then it’s always great to have time back in your diary. The sessions don’t need to be business hours but if one of them can be between 8 and 6 it would be great.
Occasionally there will be people who want to connect with you but can’t make you allotted times. When this happens, we will liaise with you to and the customer to find a time that works for you both.
You can manage your own availability in the Insider portal. If you are not going to be available for a long period please let us know so we can deactivate your profile. It’s super frustrating for people to want to book to talk to you only to find it’s not possible.
It happens. Often the kind of advice you’re giving will be more general but just disclose it and let the caller decide. If however you are going to be guarded due to this conflict – you need to let them know that it’s not appropriate for you to be their insider and that we will assist them to find another insider or provide a refund.
We are not a sales platform. Our callers want unbiased information and they don’t want to feel like there’s an ulterior motive for your advice. Selling your services must not be the purpose or priority. Your insider opinion is the product here so keep it unbiased, informed, direct and honest. Of course, becoming an insider will build your personal brand and help more people to find and connect with you in your business or professional career.
If during the call, the customer asks if you can 'do it for them' and this is something that you do, then great job... you've given them value. What you do from there is up to you. If you give your details to everyone though, you'll find yourself navigating the expectation of free calls without the boundaries provided by Insider Information.
We take privacy and confidentiality seriously and we do not provide any contact details to clients or other Insiders. Within the platform you can manage bookings, send messages, share documents and obviously connect on scheduled calls. Maintaining all communication within the platform puts a firm boundary around you and ensures that the time you dedicate to being an Insider and supporting others is manageable and you don’t find yourself taking calls and requests that interrupt your schedule and that you don’t get paid for.
These boundaries are what makes Insider Information work for everyone. You get to give on a schedule that suits and get reimbursed for your Insider knowledge with no strings attached. Clients can access your Insider, unbiased knowledge easily and at an affordable price with no strings attached.
Giving out your contact details adds strings for everyone.
